Terms and conditions

By booking the services of Jill Woodman Canine Care (JWCC) you agree to the following Terms and Conditions:

COVID-19

You will advise JWCC immediately should you need to self-isolate due to possible COVID19 infection, other communicable illness of yourself or any illness of the dog which may pose a risk to humans or animals they come in contact with.  JWCC cannot be held responsible for any illness or other health condition that may be deemed to have arisen as a result of a service provided to you.

Behaviour support

Payment for your Behaviour Consultation or Social Skills session is required in full at the appointment or by invoice to be paid within 7 days of the consultation (unless being authorised by Greyhound Trust Hall Green) and is non-refundable.

Where you are the client, the information provided as part of your consultation will remain confidential between yourself and JWCC.  Where the consultation is authorised by Greyhound Trust Hall Green, a written or verbal progress report will be provided to them following the consultation.

If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment you will be charged for the missed session unless you are able to provide 48 hours’ notice.

Follow-up sessions can be booked as required and each will incur a separate, additional charge which is payable at the appointment. These sessions last up to 1hr and are intended to provide further support regarding the priority behaviour addressed in the Behaviour Management Plan.

In the event that we have to cancel a session with you due to unforeseen circumstances, we will make every effort to reschedule your session to another mutually convenient time.

Dogs must be kept under control and away from the door when we enter your premises. If appropriate, you may be asked to take specific, pre-agreed steps to ensure safety and introduce your dog at a suitable stage in the meeting to allow controlled observation of your dog’s behaviour. If your dog has ever bitten a person or other animal, you must report this to us before the appointment takes place so that we can advise you accordingly. Failure to do so and any injury caused by your dog being out of control will be your full responsibility.

Depending on the nature of the problem, your appointment may include a walk with you and your dog.  It is your responsibility to ensure that you dog is fitted with suitable equipment to ensure the safety of all concerned during a walk and that it is wearing a tag as required by law.

If it is felt by JWCC that a veterinary check is advisable to explore any potential factor that may be affecting your dog’s behaviour, it will be your responsibility to ensure that this is carried out before embarking on any behaviour modification programme suggested as a result of the consultation.

A force-free approach to behaviour modification typically includes the use of rewards to encourage the dog to make the best choices in any given situation.  If your dog has any known allergies or intolerances to certain foods or has any other special/ medical needs, it is your responsibility to bring this to our attention at the start of the consultation.

The Behaviour Management Plan, if provided, is intended for the use of the client with the named dog only.  Implementation of the plan should be carried out by an adult (over 18).

Behaviour modification requires patience and commitment on the part of dog’s guardian.  While all advice is given in good faith, JWCC cannot guarantee that the plan will be successful nor take any responsibility for the behaviour of your dog at any time.

We welcome the opportunity to share testimonials and photographs from clients on social media and our website.  Please indicate if you do not want any written testimonials and/or photographs you send to JWCC to be used for marketing purposes in this way.

These terms and conditions apply to all aspects of the Behaviour Consultation or Social Skills session, including home visits, walks, written reports and all supporting email and phone conversations by Jill Woodman at JW Canine Care unless otherwise agreed in writing.

By paying for your behaviour consultation you agree to these conditions. This does not affect your statutory rights. Please refer to our Code of Conduct and Privacy Policy.

We reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time by notice and with immediate effect. Services are only supplied in strict accordance with these terms and conditions. JWCC reserves the right to refuse to provide a service at our own discretion.

Bookings for walking

At your initial consultation you will be required to complete a Canine Care Agreement, including details of your veterinary practice, a nominated emergency contact and a disclaimer for the use of JWCC’s services.  You will also be required to pay a £10 non-refundable deposit which will be offset against the cost of the services booked.

Ad-hoc bookings must be paid for on or before the day.  Regular bookings can be invoiced weekly or monthly, depending on the frequency of visits required.  This will be agreed at your initial consultation.  JWCC regrets that services cannot continue to be offered if invoices are not paid on time.  We reserve the right to cancel your booking in the case of repeated late payment or failure to pay for the services provided.

Cancellations and alterations to your booking

JWCC reserves the right to cancel an appointment at any time and with immediate effect if the dog does not respond well to the walker, in the case of unforeseen circumstances or any other reason which may apply.

Should you need to cancel or reschedule an ad-hoc booking, you are required to provide 48hrs notice in order to avoid being charged.  For regular bookings, 14 days’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule your appointments. If insufficient notice is provided all bookings will be charged at the full price.

Although the full visit time will always be offered where possible, an appointment may be reduced in length if deemed necessary due to adverse conditions such as unsuitable weather or any risk to the dog or the walker.

Dog walking and access to your property

All walks will be on a 1 to 1 basis and begin from your property, taking an appropriate route for the dog’s needs. Your dog will be walked on-lead unless expressly requested by you as the owner.  In this case, you agree to retain full responsibility under the law for any incident resulting for the dog being allowed off-lead.  Allowing the dog off-lead on any particular walk will be at the discretion of the walker.

JWCC cannot be held liable for any damage or injury caused by your dog and nor held responsible for injury caused by the dog to itself or by being attacked by another dog or other party. The owner accepts full liability for any loss or damage caused by their dog being walked.

JWCC will aim to follow your instructions regarding access to and security of your property as closely as possible.  We cannot be held responsible for any incidents that may occur or losses sustained from the property caused by your pets or any third party, while service are being provided.

Insurance and emergencies

JWCC holds full insurance for the operation of the business, including £10m Public Liability Insurance and cover for loss of keys to your property.  We cannot be held responsible for any loss, injury or death to a dog, or damage caused by the dog, at any point during the provision of services, whether on your property or during a walk.

In case of an emergency in your absence, JWCC will make every attempt to contact you or your emergency contact personally and arrange emergency veterinary care for your dog.  You agree to reimburse JWCC for any resulting expenses incurred on your behalf, and compensation for any other appointments which have to be cancelled in order to deal with the emergency at the usual rate for those bookings.
